Qatar's modern character is that of a strategic, ambitious, and fabulously wealthy investor. It has leveraged its liquefied natural gas (LNG) into a global brand. This isn't just about the futuristic Doha skyline, which rose from the desert in a single generation. It's about projecting influence far beyond its physical size: launching the disruptive Al Jazeera network, building Qatar Airways into a global hub, and, most audaciously, hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, bringing the entire world to its doorstep. It is a nation that has used its wealth to buy itself security and a non-negotiable seat at the global table.
